​My work explores the concept of active engagement by transforming the canvas into a dialogue between history, identity, and the viewer. Grounded in a meticulous, layered process, I interact with my medium by building tactile surfaces where traditional realistic portraiture intersects with fragments of physical, historical text. This interaction of materials creates a distinct visual tension that resists a passive glance. The viewer is asked to slow down and explore the canvas—deciphering obscured words, tracing textures, and bridging the gap between past and present. Every layer of paint and text serves as an open question, prompting the audience to bring their own perspective to the piece. Ultimately, my artwork asks what it means to truly engage, functioning as an interactive space where the viewer's interpretation becomes the final, essential layer.
