Pamela Nigro

My abstract paintings explore the continuity between ancient cultural symbols and contemporary spiritual consciousness. I am drawn to the visual and verbal languages that civilizations have developed over millennia — glyphs, Symbols, language, fragments of script, archetypal forms — and I reinterpret them within a modern abstract vocabulary. Central to my work is the pursuit of commonality across cultures: by recognizing shared symbols, motifs, and spiritual impulses, I aim to illuminate how humanity is interconnected despite apparent differences.

Working primarily in acrylic, I create layered surfaces that suggest building, excavation and revelation. Each painting develops intuitively through translucent washes, embedded marks, and gestural interventions that echo both inscription and erasure. Symbols appear partially uncovered or boldly front and center — as though emerging from the layers of history — inviting viewers to contemplate the threads that bind us across time and geograph.
